PRPL at Creative South
This past weekend, two other PRPL creatives and I made the journey slightly north of home to experience all the awesomeness that is Creative South. After seeing it from afar last year, I was definitely committed to making it happen this year. With the release of such a killer line up that Mike Jones had assembled, I knew that this was something that PRPL should contribute more to than just attendance. We were so stoked to be a sponsor of this amazing gathering of creatives, along with our other hometown homies, Real Thread and Mama's Sauce. Orlando was rep'd pretty dang hard, and it was definitely apparent how many rad and talented peeps we have in The City Beautiful.Alright, now let's get in to the deets. The conference itself is one of the most laid-back and friendly conferences I've attended. The venue was the gorgeous historic Springer Opera House, located in adorable downtown Columbus, GA. Everyone there treated you like family. Even the speakers were hanging out the entire weekend, not just in and out and on to better things.Speaking of speakers, we were all really impressed with the overall quality across the board. A lot of conferences you see have a big name or two just to pull people in, and everyone else is kind of meh. This was definitely not the case in Columbus. We're talking top-notch creators all around. Allan Peters (ACD at Target) shared his obsession with badges, the Halftone Def boys rocked the house with no f**ks (excuse me) given, Von Glitschka gave us some insights on how the creative mind functions, and then Jim Sherradan blew our minds with the unbelievable history of Hatch Show Print. It went on like this for two full days! Talk about a creative recharge.Creative South is an absolute "must attend" for anyone within driving distance. I don't know how Mike Jones and Co. are able to pull off such an epic and affordable conference, but they do — and I'm excited to see what kind of rad stuff they bring out next year.
