PRPL Hosts Creative Mornings: Childhood
Earlier today, we ate breakfast and food for thought with the Creative Mornings Orlando community, here at the HQ. If you were able to attend and met Gifn, our photobooth app, you are now famous. For those waitlisted wayfarers, here's what you missed. The theme for the January installment of the international monthly lecture series was "Childhood," featuring guest speaker Wyatt Winter. Hailing from Disney, the beacon of juvenescence and creativity, he took us through the iterative process of creating a space catered entirely to children, in an unconventional setting. He and the Imagineers took the Walt Disney Pavilion at Florida Hospital for Children from the drawing board to reality by looking through the eyes of the very kids that would overrun it. Here at PRPL, we can relate to that methodology. You see, that's essentially how we planned our office space, as well. For everyday use by a bunch of collaborating, ping-ponging, eating, and focusing, all in one place at any given time. We had to ask how people would actually operate, and how we could accommodate (and even encourage) a bit of shenanigans to balance it all the work out. That's explains the Nerf wars, stocked chocolate milk, and Razor scoot around the building. This Creative Morning reminded us to embrace our youth, and Wyatt's talk specifically taught us to design around it. Thanks to all who came out! We look forward to the next one.
